From beam physics
to scientific instruments.

Selected publications →
01

High-brightness electron beams

Creating and controlling electron pulses with the emittance, duration, and energy spread needed for precise experiments.

02

Ultrafast electron science

Developing diffraction, microscopy, and spectroscopy instruments to investigate the structure and dynamics of matter.

A sharper probe
of quantum materials.

In collaboration with Anshul Kogar’s group, we are developing electron energy-loss spectroscopy instrumentation that brings together momentum resolution, high energy resolution, and low-temperature measurements.

UCLA’s 2026 feature describes the collaboration and the instrument under construction.
